Material Preview: Here, we have a mode that shows a simplified
version of your lights and displays materials for surfaces.
Rendered: The most advanced mode where you will view
shadows, textures, and lights.
It is possible to work in a Rendered mode for your projects. Still, you
might experience some performance issues depending on your scene's
complexity and the available hardware (Figure 3.4).

For modeling projects, the best approach is to stay between Wireframe
and Solid. They offer the best combination of performance and
visualization options for your projects. Even in Wireframe mode, you still
might have occluded elements based on the location and viewing angle.
Whenever you have parts of a 3D model occluded by existing geometry,
enable X-Ray mode to select those parts regardless of your viewing
angle.
